Joseph Della Fave
Joseph Della Fave served as Executive Director of Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC) 1991-2019. Previous to this, Joe served as a City Councilman in Hoboken, championing landmark affordable housing and anti-displacement legislations, integrity and public participation in government, effective planning and zoning enforcement, and budget transparency and effectiveness; as Chairman of the History Department at St. Peter's Prep; and as a community and union organizer, including as president of tenant and school organizations and as coordinator of local UFW activities, including traveling with Caesar Chavez around the State.
As ED at ICC, Joe drafted Newark’s Inclusionary Zoning Law and ICC led the Coalition to advance Newark’s “Right to Counsel” law. Currently, Joe serves on the Newark Equitable Growth Advisory Commission and chairs its Policy and Planning Sub-Committee, is a consultant to Clinton Hill Community Action and Ironbound Community Corporation, serves on ICC’s Environmental Justice Steering Committee, and is President of the Advocacy arm of the Housing and Community Development Network of NJ, where he is also an Emeritus Board member. He served as Co-Chair of Governor Murphy’s Housing Transition Committee. Among many awards, Joe is proud to have received the Key to the City from Mayor Baraka.
